Best PokeSurvivor partner of each type

Building around one type, for a weather or a rift? Here is the top-scoring partner for each type on this list. A dual-type partner counts for both of its types.

How this tier list is ranked

Score = 45% attack multiplier, 20% HP, 15% speed and 20% for the two strongest moves the partner can learn, each compared with all 966 partners. Normal moves count 0.6× because they never hit super-effective. Tiers are percentiles: S is the top 3%, A the next 12%, B the next 25%, C the next 30%, D the rest.

It is our formula, not an official ranking. The game changes almost daily, so the numbers follow the game's public data and the commit is shown above.

What the score leaves out

Body size (how many shots reach you), held items, the 25% damage cut you get while a melee move is active, and the rift you play are not in the score. It rates a partner on paper; your run can go better or worse.

Why PokeSurvivor tier lists disagree

A community list posted on r/pokesurvivor by a player who scored all 966 Pokémon from the game's code, measures something else: how a partner does at minute 15. It weighs kill power 45%, survival 40% (HP, body size and type) and speed 15%, and multiplies the parts, so one big weakness drags a partner down. Ours adds the parts and gives the move pool its own 20%.

That is why the two lists split on some names. Mewtwo is S tier here, while the survival-weighted list puts it around 41st, because its best move is a Normal one and its bulk is only a little above the median. Big-bodied legendaries like Eternatus, Ho-Oh and Rayquaza drop hard there too; our score ignores body size. Use this list to shortlist partners, then open one in the PokeSurvivor build planner to see which two moves to build around and which cards they need.

PokeSurvivor tier list questions

Which is the best Pokémon in PokéSurvivor?

On our formula Kartana is first with 70, then Mewtwo (63) and Slaking (62). Players on r/pokesurvivor also point out that a good player can last a long time with almost anyone, so treat the list as a starting point.

Why isn't Mewtwo S tier?

On this list Mewtwo is S tier (63, #2). A community list on r/pokesurvivor puts it lower because it measures survival at minute 15: its author says Mewtwo's psychic moves are mostly ranged and weaker than melee moves, and its bulk is only a little above the median.

Why is Deoxys ranked where it is?

Only Deoxys's base form is in the game data. It is very fast (speed 141) but has 92 HP, below the median of 99. On this list it is S tier (58); the community list that weighs survival more drops it to B.

Does hitbox size matter?

Players who read the game's code say yes: a bigger body gets hit by more shots, which is why some big legendaries fall on survival-based lists. Our score does not include body size yet, so a large partner can play worse than its tier here.
